Okay, I've gotten a few phone calls about this...and I just answered this on Yahoo Answers...so, I think that veterans want to know if their ex-spouse can get a VA home loan once they are divorced.

The quick answer is NO, they can't get a VA home loan once you are divorced...

I do get questions regarding widows though and here is an interesting item

that I pulled from our VA home loan underwriting guidelines.

According to my VA home loan guidelines:

An unmarried surviving spouse of an eligible veteran can get a loan with the following
conditions:

o The veteran has died because of a servie related cause, or
o Spouse of an active duty member who is listed as MIA or POW for at least ninety days.
• Note: The MIA/POW condition is limited to only one time.

So, the next time you are worried about whether you husband or wife can use you VA home loan, they can't unless they are married to you
