We've been getting requests for information on VA Grants in Texas, so I thought I would give some information about a VA housing grant that I have used in the past. Typically, we get calls from veterans that want to know what kind of VA Grants in Texas they qualify for and the only one that I really know about is the SAH, which is short for Specially Adapted Housing Program. This program works out really well for certain disabled vets that may need some modifications to a home they are purchasing. One family that I helped needed wheelchair ramps and modifications to the inside of the home. On top of that they needed money for a down payment, the VA gave this family $50,000 for fix the home and for the down payment. A small problem you may find is that many lenders won't allow you to escrow the funds to adapt the home. When this family came to me, they had a 30% down payment and no lender would lend them the rest of the money to purchase the home. Can you imagine that? Luckily, I knew of a few lenders that would allow this and they finally got their home financed. If you have any questions about VA grants in Texas and would like to apply for one, please give me a call and I can get you headed in the right direction to buy a home. If you would like to apply here is a link to the forms http://www.homeloans.va.gov/sah.htm
